Snart 60 år etter sin død er Henrietta Lacks fremdeles i live. Hennes celler dyrkes fram i laboratorier verden over, også i Norge, og vil leve i det uendelige. Henrietta var en livsglad og fattig farget kvinne fra landsbygda i USA som var gift med og fikk fem barn med sin fetter David. I 1951 får Henrietta diagnosen kreftsvulst på livmorhalsen.
