Since the early 1970s Ricard has been America's most controversial arbiter of taste, contributing his work to influential literary and art publications in America and abroad. He has published four books of poetry: Rene Ricard 1979 – 1980, God With Revolver, Trusty Sarcophagus Co., and Love Poems. This is Rene Ricard's first book of paintings–a selection executed over the last ten years, with an emphasis on poems painted in oil on canvas.
