Foster profiles the work of 10 Mexican American photographers who work at the intersection of ethnicity and representation. These photographers present artistic and documentary visual images of the socially invisible. They and their subjects grapple with definitions of identity, as well as ethnicity and gender. This project is not meant as an encyclopedia of Chicano photographers. Rather, it is an account of varieties of photographic enterprise in current Mexican American cultural production.
