Public Sector Records Management
Records management has undergone significant change in recent years, owing to the introduction of freedom of information legislation as well as the development of e-government and e-business and the need to manage records effectively in both the private and public sector. There are very few purely practical texts for records managers and this book aims to fill that gap. The author has spent his entire career in public sector records management and has contributed to records management standards for governments around the world. The text is wholly practical and written at an accessible level. Although the author discusses legislation and examples from the UK, the book is relevant to public sector records management at an international level. It will be essential reading for professionals in record management posts as well as anyone who is responsible for record keeping as part of their operational duties.

Law and the Political Economy of Hunger
This book is an inquiry into the role of law in the contemporary political economy of hunger. In the work of many international institutions, governments, and NGOs, law is represented as a solution to the persistence of hunger. This presentation is evident in the efforts to realize a human right to adequate food, as well as in the positioning of law, in the form of regulation, as a tool to protect society from 'unruly' markets. In this monograph, Anna Chadwick drawson theoretical work from a range of disciplines to challenge accounts that portray law's role in the context of hunger as exclusively remedial. The book takes as its starting point claims that financial traders 'caused' the 2007-8 global food crisis by speculating in financial instruments linked to the prices of staple grains. The introduction of new regulations to curb the 'excesses' of the financial sector in order to protect the food insecure reinforces the dominant perception that law can solve the problem. Chadwick investigates a number of different legal regimes spanning public international law, international economic law, transnational governance, private law, and human rights law to gather evidence for a counterclaim: law is part of the problem. The character of the contemporary global food system-a food system that is being progressively 'financialized'-owes everything to law. If world hunger is to be eradicated,Chadwick argues, then greater attention needs to be paid to how different legal regimes operate to consistently privilege the interests of the wealthy few over the needs of poor and the hungry.

Curriculum, Culture and Citizenship Education in Wales
This book explores how culture and citizenship are theorised, promoted and learned throughout schools in Wales. Following a brief history of Welsh education and a discussion of how contemporary cultural identity is theorised through citizenship education curricula, it illustrates how archaic approaches to understanding cultural identity continue to undermine the development of culturally relevant curriculum in Wales. Smith also analyses how young people discuss their orientations to Welshness, how teachers engage with the requirements of the Curriculum Cymreig and how these reactions develop within educational settings. Ending with a recommendation for a more sophisticated framework for conceptualising identity and a critical approach for discussing citizenship and cultural identity in schools in Wales, this book highlights how the critical pedagogy can progress further.

Jeff Steinberg
Have you ever wondered what could have been if Kevin Smith directed Men in Black? Us either because that's kind of a dumb thing to wonder. Besides, why obsess about "What ifs?" when you could be reading the defining sci-fi-rom-com-dram-actioner of our time! From the writer of THE BUNKER and the artist of MY LITTLE PONY--wait, really? Okay, I guess we'll go with it--comes an alien invasion the likes of which have never before been seen by human eyes. The space invaders are real. They're here. They're mean. And they're standing in judgement over the citizens of Earth. The human race's final exam. They've chosen a single champion to test and, unfortunately for us, it's none other than Jeff Steinberg. Romantically challenged idiot, video store clerk, constipated, confused, distractible. In other words, the planet is totally doomed.
