Sosialpedagogisk arbeid med barn og unge preger barnevernspedagogenes profesjonsutøvelse. Målet med denne boka er å vise at sosialpedagogikk utgjør et kunnskapsgrunnlag som byr på mange tanke- og handlingsmuligheter og er sammensatt av ulike retninger og tradisjoner. Som teoretisk fagområde tar sosialpedagogikken for seg temaer innenfor oppdragelse og undervisning. Som praktisk arbeidsområde er faget opptatt av å finne løsninger på miljørelaterte utfordringer. God omsorg og oppdragelse bidrar til livskompetanse som gir barn og unge de kunnskapene, de erfaringene og den mestringskompetansen de trenger for å kunne fungere i samfunnet. Sosialpedagogikkens mangfold viser at kunnskapsgrunnlaget på den ene siden kan beskrives som en paraply for en kunnskapskonstruksjon for profesjonsutdanninger som inkluderer pedagogikk, psykologi og sosiologi. På den andre siden har sosialpedagogikken i over ett hundre år skapt sin egen både teoretiske og praktiske kunnskap om barn og unge i utsatte situasjoner. Forfatterne skriver ut fra personlige erfaringer. De ønsker alle å bidra til kritiske refleksjoner knyttet til ulike forståelser av barn og unges utvikling og sosialisering i et flerkulturelt samfunn, og til hvilke vurderinger av kvalitet som legges til grunn for ulike oppvekstsvilkår. Alle forfatterne arbeider ved Institutt for sosialfag ved Universitetet i Stavanger. Boken er skrevet for både framtidige og nåværende sosialpedagoger på utdannings- og profesjonsfeltet.

Jiri Weil överlevde förintelsen genom att fingera sitt självmord när han fick kallelsen att infinna sig till en transport. Romanen bär det självupplevdas prägel. I sin recension i Sydsvenskan hösten 1998 skrev Åke Leijon- hufvud: "Det som slår en när man läser 'Liv med en stjärna', det fullständigt unika i boken, är den intimitet med vilken den är skriven." Torsten Kälvemark i Aftonbladet skrev "Stor bok i litet format". Även i Svenska Dagbladet och Arbetet fick romanen mycket fina recensioner. Weil skrev sin roman med enkla ord. Orden "tysk" eller "nazist" används inte en enda gång. Ordet "jude" före- kommer en gång i sammansättningen "jude- svin". Genom Josef Roubiceks tankar, drömmar och möten ges en oförglömlig skildring av den byråkratiserade ondskan som tränger sig på en vanlig människa. Boken rymmer också humor och värme.

Boken "Jernbanens Typologi" er et dokumentarisk fotokunstprosjekt om bygninger langs jernbanen, for det meste vanntårn og vannstendere (Norge, Sverige og Danmark), men også noen stasjoner og andre bygninger langs utvalgte jernbanetrasseer (Norge). Å vise fram variasjoner og likhetstrekk, ved å sette samme bygningstyper mot hverandre, er noe av det mest essensielle ved dette arbeidet. Prosjektet inneholder flere hundre fotografier, og stordelen av dette materialet presenteres i boken.

This book sets out to investigate the wealth of the artistic production that developed in Central Europe (Austria and Bohemia in particular) in the first half of the 19th century, when Biedermeier appeared as an original attempt to give rise to a -universal- stylistic expression. Its simplicity of line, rigorous and simple although not lacking in elegance and refinement, the appearance of the first craft productions based on standard models and its unquestionable modernity all make Biedermeier the first example of design, the undisputed point of breakdown between Classicism and Modernism. Indeed, it is considered on the most fascinating genres of the 19th century. The volume offers a 360 view of Central European production using more than 300 objects of extraordinary originality, quality and workmanship from the National Gallery and Museum of Decorative and Applied Arts of Prague and from major Bohemian museums. Paintings, furnishings, sculptures, drawings, graphic works, artistic craftsmanship, jewels, ceramics and glassware that decorated the homes of gentry and bourgeois, miniatures, daguerreotypes... Remarkable pieces such as the refined lady's desk, designed and constructed in the workshop of the most important creator of Biedermeier furniture, the Viennese Josef Danhauser (1780- 1829), and a beautiful lyre- shaped secretaire with walnut veneer and musical motif carvings that overcome the ostentation of Empire style.

Detektiv Drange snubler stadig over mysterier som må løses, men han trenger din hjelp! Detektiv Drange heter i sin tsjekkiske originalutgave detektiv Stika. Serien om detektiv Stika var pa trykk i det tsjekkiske barnebladet Ohnicek (Den lille flammen) i seksten årganger fra 1971 til 1986. I denne boken gjengis en tredjedel av alle tegneseriestripene med den populære detektiven i hovedrollen.

W.G. Sebald (1944-2001) var en tysk/engelsk forfatter som i tillegg til en særegen og vakker litterær stil, brukte foto (og andre illustrasjoner) i sine tekster. I dette kunstprosjektet har fotograf Jiri Havran oppsøkt de samme stedene/motivene som Sebald fotograferte for 25-30 år siden, og gjenskapt de samme bildene, slik stedene ser ut i dag. Mens Sebalds illustrasjoner er reprodusert på dårlig bokpapir, er Photo after Sebald en kunstbok med høy trykk- og innbindingskvalitet.

Metaphysical theories are beautiful. At the end of this book, Jiri Benovsky defends the view that metaphysical theories possess aesthetic properties and that these play a crucial role when it comes to theory evaluation and theory choice.Before we get there, the philosophical path the author proposes to follow starts with three discussions of metaphysical equivalence. Benovsky argues that there are cases of metaphysical equivalence, cases of partial metaphysical equivalence, as well as interesting cases of theories that are not equivalent. Thus, claims of metaphysical equivalence can only be raised locally. The slogan is: the best way to do meta-metaphysics is to do first-level metaphysics.To do this work, Benovsky focuses on the nature of primitives and on the role they play in each of the theories involved. He emphasizes the utmost importance of primitives in the construction of metaphysical theories and in the subsequent evaluation of them.He then raises the simple but complicated question: how to make a choice between competing metaphysical theories? If two theories are equivalent, then perhaps we do not need to make a choice. But what about all the other cases of non-equivalent "equally good" theories? Benovsky uses some of the theories discussed in the first part of the book as examples and examines some traditional meta-theoretical criteria for theory choice (various kinds of simplicity, compatibility with physics, compatibility with intuitions, explanatory power, internal consistency,...) only to show that they do not allow us to make a choice.But if the standard meta-theoretical criteria cannot help us in deciding between competing non-equivalent metaphysical theories, how then shall we make that choice? This is where Benovsky argues that metaphysical theories possess aesthetic properties - grounded in non-aesthetic properties - and that these play a crucial role in theory choice and evaluation. This view, as well as all the meta-metaphysical considerations discussed throughout the book, then naturally lead the author to a form of anti-realism, and at the end of the journey he offers reasons to think better of the kind of anti-realist view he proposes to embrace.www.jiribenovsky.org
