Denne boka redegjør for og diskuterer fremveksten av nye og endrede lærer- og lederroller i skolen. Gjennom ti forskningsbaserte bidrag presenterer norske forskere og praktikere eksempler på hvordan nye roller utformes, og hvordan de påvirker vilkår for skoleutvikling og ledelse. Skolen har fått flere lærer- og lederroller de siste årene. Mens rektor tradisjonelt har stått alene som leder i skolen, ser vi nå fremveksten av mer differensierte lederroller. Mange lærere har fått tilleggsfunksjoner som lærerspesialister og veiledere for nyutdannede lærere. Felles for de nye og endrede rollene er at lærerne og skolelederne som innehar dem, forventes å spille en viktig rolle når det gjelder skoleutvikling.
