About the book

Selkirk obtained its original charter in the twelfth century from David I and it is one of the oldest burghs in Scotland. The town's development was based around the woollen industry. Statues in the town celebrate its association with the explorer Mungo Park and Sir Walter Scott, who was sheriff-deputy of the county of Selkirk and based at Selkirk's courthouse in the town square.
